April is National Occupational Therapy Month

We wanted to share a little more about Occupational Therapy during National Occupational Therapy Month!

Occupational therapy is a skilled service provided by a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). OTs help people across the lifespan participate in their daily occupations and live life to the fullest. An occupation is not just a work related task, although it can be. It is a task that people want or need to do. This may include:

✅Dressing

✅Making meals

✅Participating in age appropriate play

✅Going to school

✅Managing bills and

✅Participating in self-care tasks

The term hippotherapy refers to how occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology professionals use evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning in the purposeful manipulation of equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes.
