Meet The Team

Volunteer with Us!

Do you have a passion for helping others and a love for horses? We are currently looking for kind and enthusiastic volunteers to support our therapy programs!

No horse experience is necessary, but it’s always a bonus. We’re seeking horse handlers and side-walkers to assist during therapy sessions, especially during daytime hours.

Dr. Alexis Baney, DVM

Board Member

Read Alexis' biography here. Dr. Alexis Baney grew up in central Pennsylvania and through her grandfather, found a love for horses at an early age. Dr. Baney rode Hunters/Jumpers competitively while growing up and quickly developed a love for the equine world. From an early age, she was captivated by veterinary medicine and a personal tragedy with her own horse fueled her passion to one day become an equine veterinarian. Dr. Baney attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where she received her Bachelor’s degree. She worked as a veterinary assistant at a small animal clinic while completing her undergraduate studies. Dr. Baney received her degree in veterinary medicine in 2014 from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a one-year veterinary internship at Brandon Equine Medical Center in Florida where she was first introduced to equine sports medicine and lameness diagnosis. In 2015, Dr. Baney returned to Pennsylvania to join Allegheny Equine in Murrysville PA where she practiced for 6 years and developed a special interest in equine performance and lameness diagnosis (especially diagnostic ultrasound). Dr. Baney feels that taking the time to listen to the owner/rider’s concerns is just as important as the evaluation of the horse when it comes to lameness and performance issues. She strives to evaluate each case independently and come up with diagnostic and treatment plans that best suit the horse and owner. Her goal is that EPVS will be able to provide exceptional specialty care for the horses of Western Pennsylvania across all disciplines. In her free time, Dr. Baney enjoys spending time with her family/friends, horseback riding, reading, hiking with her dogs, kayaking and traveling. She also sits on the board of directors for the Making Strides Foundation and National Alliance of Equine Practitioners (NAEP).
